Number Builder

Free number practice for Years 1–2 — build tens and ones, read models and write numerals or number words. No account needed.

About Number Builder

Build numbers with tens and ones, read block models and type numerals or number words yourself. Correct answers can trigger celebrations. Feedback and retry options depend on the game.

Curriculum purpose

Learning objective: Construct and interpret tens-and-ones representations and produce typed numerals and number names to 100.

Curriculum anchor:

This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.

For parents and carers

Each strip contains ten equal unit squares. Start to 20 and discuss what each group is worth. An adult can read the number words aloud if needed. Words above 20 practise Year 2 requirements. This supports representation and typed writing; number lines, estimation, counting in steps and handwriting need other activities. 100 is shown as ten tens, not a hundreds-digit exercise. Take a break when you need one.
