Distinguish fact from opinion in Year 6 English
What is the difference between fact and opinion?
A fact is a statement that can be checked against evidence and shown to be true or false. An opinion expresses a belief, judgement or preference, so people may reasonably disagree with it. A confident tone does not make a statement factual: ask what evidence could verify it.
