Understand the key idea
Changes of state are reversible physical changes. Heating increases particle energy until particles can overcome the forces holding them in place, giving melting and then boiling. Cooling reverses this, giving condensing and freezing. Mass is conserved throughout because no particles are created or destroyed.
Common mix-up
Evaporation and boiling are not the same. Evaporation happens only at the surface and at any temperature, while boiling happens throughout the liquid at its boiling point.
